The Phoenix series draws inspiration from personal history. Alexander's grandfather's house burned down, rebuilt and renamed after the mythical bird that rises, resilient, from its own ashes. These monumental pieces feature deliberate burn marks, creeping elegantly onto one end of each table. On the table’s top, antique plates with a bird motif rest beneath the surface, creating a visual narrative of destruction and rebirth. The charred elements contrast with the delicate ceramics, celebrating renewal and the transcendent nature of beauty that survives—and is sometimes enhanced by—destruction.
